The Last Night free essay sample
Much the same as any typical weeknight, I was in my kitchen watching kid's shows having my supper. I was sitting as near the TV as I could with my seat pulled up to the ledge. My dad had as of late gotten his gallbladder out was despite everything having issues so he was at the specialists completing more tests. As I was wrapping up my supper, the front entryway swung open and in strolled my folks. Taking a gander at the demeanors on their faces, I could tell that there was something horribly off-base. ââ¬Å"Will you go get your siblings and meet us in our bedroom?â⬠my mom asked me compassionate with distress in her voice. I painstakingly escaped my seat and headed down the steps where my two siblings were playing computer games. They were perched on the love seat together chuckling and hollering at each other energetically. After I completed the process of mentioning to them what was happening, we climbed the steps in dread for what we were going to be told. None of us needing to talk what was at the forefront of our thoughts; we remained quiet and strolled through their room entryway. We stayed there on their new blanket they had bought before in the week, still solid from not being washed at this point. We sat peacefully for what appeared hours. Examining the newly maroon painted space for something I could put my emphasis on rather than according to my parent, my eyes arrived on an image hung up on the divider over their bed. It was an image of the Latter Day Saint prophet Thomas S. Monson and the entirety of the messengers; they were wearing white hued suits in a delightful sanctuary. Some were standing and some were sitting, grinning at what I could just envision was the camera. The room they were in was a lovely baptistery, unadulterated and white. I was staying there contemplating what it resembles to by and by meet them when my fatherââ¬â¢s voice broke my daze. When he got done with talking, I took a gander at my mom as tears stung in my eyes, ââ¬Å"Is it true?â⬠I asked her. ââ¬Å"Does father truly have cancer?â⬠As she gestured her head quietly I could scarcely breatheââ¬the room started to turn and I had a feeling that I would have been wiped out. I stood up and surged out of the room, going through my room entryway and pummeled it shut. Attempting to shut out the sound of my folks despite everything conversing with my two siblings, my hands traveled to my head where they were put over my ears. I out of nowhere went feeble and I had an inclination that I may swoon at that moment. My knees clasped out from underneath me and I tumbled to the floor. I shouted out in despair as I appealed to my Heavenly Father, beseeching him to please support my family and to support my dad. Being furious with God and irate with the world, I got up from my knees and in an episode of wrath started tossing things at the divider. Everything that was in sight I snatched and tossed over the room; my school course books, an image outline, pads, my light. With each quick toss, the things collided with the divider and were annihilated. Cautiously getting the bits of the image outline that had broken against the divider; I gazed at the photo that had been inside. It was an image of my family, sitting together in a lush field, with incredible huge grin on our appearances. Taking a gander at it I felt a piercing torment in my heart. How did it so rapidly go from an upbeat family without any issues to a family thatââ¬â¢s self-destructing? I sensed that I was in a dreaming, I was in a bad dream and I needed to wake up. He was in and out of the medical clinic week by week, having tests and chemotherapy done. For consistently that passed, he started to look increasingly delicate and delicate. The medications appeared to compound the situation for him, not making a difference. He would get back home, a great many arrangements, with a n anguished look all over and torment in his eyes. I couldnââ¬â¢t take it any longer, so I started keeping away from him. I couldnââ¬â¢t handle investigating those dull eyes of his and seeing the torment in them, realizing that there was nothing I could never really liberate him from his suffering. Thinking back on those days, I wish I had responded in an unexpected way. I wish I had set aside more effort to converse with him, had disclosed to him I adored him all the more regularly, and invested somewhat more energy with him. Rather, I had evaded him in the house, remaining in my room or in any event, remaining out late with companions just to circumvent investigating those upset and pitiful eyes. It was the prior night Christmas Eve, and it was my chance to care for my dad. Consistently that week my family had been alternating looking out for him during that time and giving him his torment meds. Prior at night we had observed Christmas together. That morning my folks had gone to the specialists and were informed that it is astute to celebrate early. ââ¬Å"Just in case,â⬠had been the nursesââ¬â¢ words. I investigated and saw him jumping with torment. He was making an effort not to make any solid, for dread heââ¬â¢d wake me. Much to his dismay, Iââ¬â¢d been wakeful the entire evening watching him; attempting to retain each component all over. He had dull olive skin, chocolate earthy colored eyes, thick dim eyebrows, and a grin that could dissolve anybody with only one look. I didnââ¬â¢t need to overlook anything. I couldnââ¬â¢t let myself nod off or really close my eyes, for dread that heââ¬â¢d leave me. I sat up as I asked him, ââ¬Å"Do you need more morphine, dad?â⬠He gestured his head yes. Cautiously moving off of the love seat, making an effort not to upset him, I snatched the medication off of the end table before me. With insecure hands I put the drops in his mouth. My eyes substantial with tears, I stayed there and watched him. Heââ¬â¢s in so much agony. Why him? For what reason would God pick him? This wasnââ¬â¢t alright with me. My father was my best friendââ¬I disclosed to him everything. Without him, who was I going to go to when I was vexed or was having issues with companions or at school? Abruptly, there was a clamor originating from my dad. I glanced over to see him tinkering with his fingers, as though he were squeezing catches on a little gadget. His eyes abruptly flew open and he took a gander at me, ââ¬Å"Sorry.â⬠He shouted once he saw the frightened demeanor all over. ââ¬Å"I thought I was messaging Colbie.â⬠(Colbie is my sister. She was living endlessly from home however had dropped by in the wake of hearing the unavoidable of his passing.) Gee golly, I thought, itââ¬â¢s too early. They disclosed to us he had one more month. In what manner can he as of now be acting along these lines? ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s OK father, donââ¬â¢t stress over me. Would i be able to make you anything else?â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m alright darling, however thank you,â⬠he answered. During that time I lay there attempting to conceal the hurt and battle I felt with this circumstance of his looming demise. It was so difficult to simply stay there are watch him truly dying. I needed my dad to imagine that I wasnââ¬â¢t terrified. I needed to be solid for him; I should have been solid for him. ââ¬Å"Dad,â⬠I said discreetly. ââ¬Å"Are you scared?â⬠He looked profound at me as they loaded up with tears once more. ââ¬Å"Yes darling, Iââ¬â¢m frightened. Be that as it may, not for the reasons you would think.â⬠I took a gander at him questioningly as he proceeded, ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m terrified for you, and for you mother, and for every other person. I get the opportunity to go to a superior spot where there is no misery, while you folks need to remain here on this planet and experience more hardships. Iââ¬â¢m not terrified to pass on, Iââ¬â¢m ready.â⬠He started to grin, ââ¬Å"bring it on.â⬠he said flippantly. With tears spilling down my face I sat up and took a gander at him. I became significantly irate with him as he expressed those words to me. How might he say that? How would he be able to simply abandon life? ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t you dare say that, father. Donââ¬â¢t you dare! How might you say that to me? In what manner can you simply surrender? I donââ¬â¢t need to live without you; I canââ¬â¢t live without you. What am I expected to do when I graduate? I need you to be there sitting in the group with mother, supporting me as I get my certificate. I need you there in the sanctuary with me when I get hitched to the adoration for my life. I need to have my daddy-little girl move at my wedding like each other young lady out there. Shouldn't something be said about when I have children? They will grow up not knowing their own granddad. It would be ideal if you please donââ¬â¢t abandon me. Donââ¬â¢t abandon us,â⬠I shouted out. I lay there crying wildly as he scoured my back attempting to comfort me. The jobs had exchanged. Rather than me dealing with him, he was dealing with me. ââ¬Å"Ali?â⬠he murmured, eyes shimmering. ââ¬Å"When you graduate, simply have your mom spare me a seat and I guarantee I will be there watching you, applauding you. At the point when you get hitched to your darling, I will be there in the Celestial Room with a grin all over, as glad as could be. At the point when you have offspring of your own, I will be there to take care of them. I will be their watchman blessed messenger. Ali, I will consistently be with you.â⬠Hours after the fact, the opportunity had at long last arrived. Sitting all together, watching him in his last snapshot of life, it appeared to be so dreamlike. At regular intervals his eyes would meander around the room, as though her were scanning for something. I attempted to concentrate on what was occurring so out of nowhere. I was nestled into the seat close to the lounge chair viewing. I was numb, staggered, and uncertain of how I should respond. These things just occur in motion pictures. I donââ¬â¢ t know what I should do, how I should feel or even respond? My more established sister and my two siblings were before the lounge chair, hunkered somewhere near my dad. He appeared as though he was in such torment and desolation as he battled for air. Quickly however respectfully, my sibling, Sam, took my fatherââ¬â¢s submit his and holding back tears he murmured, ââ¬Å"Dad, itââ¬â¢s alright. Just go.â⬠My dad at that point took one final check out the room, and took his last breath. The sound he made before that final gasp will be with me for a mind-blowing remainder. Mosque being built by 911 sight Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Mosque being worked by 911 sight - Essay Example The frenzy made by the 9/11 occurrence was gradually vanishing at present. Be that as it may, reports about the development of a mosque at ground zero are making aggravations the Americans at present. Chelsea Schilling (2011) has brought up that ââ¬Å"a new Islamic mosque will open its entryways just strides from Ground Zero where Muslim psychological oppressors killed 2,751 individuals for the sake of Allah on Sept. 11, 2001 (Schilling). There are various feelings about the development of a mosque close to ground zero. This paper contends against the development of a mosque at 9/11 site. Supporters of mosque development at ground zero contend that since America is a mainstream law based nation, Muslims reserve the privilege to build a mosque anyplace in America. They are of the conclusion that building a mosque at 9/11 site will improve the certifications of America as a common country. The above contention is by all accounts silly. Americaââ¬â¢s mainstream certifications are as of now settled since Americans indicated no faltering in choosing a leader of Muslim starting point significantly after the 9/11 episode. The present president Obama has Muslim beginnings. It ought to be note that the in India which is accepted to be one of the biggest mainstream popular governments on the planet, the Hindu fundamentalists restricted the appointment of Sonia Gandhi as their leader. It ought to likewise be noticed that the ââ¬Å"leading imam, who conducts affectability instructional meetings for the FBI, has allegedly censured Christians for beginning mass assaults on civiliansâ⬠(Schilling). As such the Muslim people group in America despite everything has no respects to the casualties of 9/11 episode and it is hard to expect kindness from them in future moreover. The subsequent contention for building of a mosque at ground zero is that a Mosque at ground zero will assist America with regaining the lost certainty of Muslim people group in America. Numerous in dividuals accept that a mosque at ground zero is the positive sign in reinforcing Americaââ¬â¢s relations with the Muslim world. The above contention is likewise useless. It ought to be noticed that there are numerous mosques working at various pieces of America. In addition, none of the mosques in America endured any harms significantly after the annihilation of world exchange place and the murdering of thousands of honest individuals. ââ¬Å"Many have whined that it is inhumane toward have a gigantic mosque two squares from the site that turned into the cemetery for casualties of the 9/11 fear assault by Muslim activists of Al Qaedaâ⬠(Sanchez). Nothing more should be possible to the family members of the survivors of 9/11 occurrence as a badgering, if the specialists proceed with the development of the mosque. As indicated by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg ââ¬Å"the mosque will assist with bringing our city considerably closer together and help disavow the bogus and rep ulsive thought that the assaults of 9/11 were in any capacity reliable with Islam (Loffee). American pioneers are attempting to fortify the associations with the Islamic people group in a political way. Notwithstanding, they are overlooking the way that discretion will always lose over fundamentalism. Reinforcing Islamic culture in New York like huge city will make various residents in New York. Muslims will attempt to uphold their strict convictions even in their public activity which may make issues to different religions. Shariah laws, which are the key laws of Muslim conviction, will be authorized in Islamic culture and the impacts of these laws may reflect in the life of others also. In

Blog Archive Northwestern University (Kellogg) Essay Analysis, 20192020
Blog Archive Northwestern University (Kellogg) Essay Analysis, 2019â"2020 For this application season, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University has kept is first essay question largely the same but updated the second to focus on applicantsâ guiding principles rather than (past and future) growth. Interestingly, both of Kelloggâs essays now center on âvalue(s),â but in very different ways, according to two separate definitions of the term. In this way, Kelloggâs questions seem to address two key aspects of business today, and candidates will need to demonstrate their awareness of both and potential to fulfill them. For more guidance on how to interpret and approach Kelloggs essay prompts for 2019â"2020, read on. Interested in learning how to tackle this yearâs Kellogg application essay? Watch the short video below before you continue reading the full analysis! Required Essay 1: Kelloggâs purpose is to educate, equip and inspire brave leaders who create lasting value. Provide a recent example where you have demonstrated leadership and created value. What challenges did you face, and what did you learn? (450 words) This is a fairly straightforward essay prompt, and we recommend responding in an equally straightforward manner. Launch directly into the story of your leadership experience, and detail the specific actions you took in directing others to achieve a positive result. The key here is to show you shared a valuable experience with colleagues, extracted the most from your team members, and attained a desired outcome. Although we often note that not all great leadership stories necessarily have to end in success, Kelloggâs request for evidence of âvalueâ certainly implies that the school wants to hear about a situation that had a preferable resolution. Note that Kellogg does not specify that the experience you share must be related to your workplace or career. Leadership does not need to have an official title attached to it, and it can be expressed in a community service or even family life setting just as much as in a workplace, so explore all the different areas of your life for possible stories. This season, Kellogg has added the qualifier ârecentâ to the prompt, so avoid reaching too far into your past for options here, and focus on situations that best illustrate your current capabilities and values. We recommend using a narrative approach to present your story, but be sure to also share the thought process and motivation(s) behind your actions. This way, the admissions committee will take away both a clear picture of what you accomplished and the aspects of your character that inspired you and helped enable your success. That said, the school acknowledges within the prompt that even endeavors that have a positive result are rarely smooth sailing from beginning to endâ"hence the question about challenges faced. A mistake applicants often make in writing this kind of essay is presenting a strong narrative in which they are incredible leaders, and then near the end, making a brief (and typically disjointed) reference to a hardship or conflict encountered along the way, meant to fulfill the âchallengesâ element of the essay query. To be effective and believable, your ups and downs must be woven intrinsically into your narrative, rather than simply acknowledged at the end. Clearly explaining how you approached and prevailed over the challenge at hand is crucial, so go beyond simply describing the roadblock itself and ensure that you detail your response and the inner workings of your decision making at that point. Lastly, do not forget or neglect to explain what you learned from the experienceâ"Kellogg specifically asks you to do so! And keep in mind that for your takeaways to be âmeaningful,â they have to be profoundly connected to your narrative. The admissions reader should be able to easily understand the connection between the situation you describe and your subsequent learnings. Required Essay 2: Values are what guide you in your life and work. What values are important to you and how have they influenced you? (450 words) Kellogg offers another very straightforward essay question here, so not a lot of interpretation is needed. On its admissions FAQ page, the school lists âvalues and motivationsâ among the elements it seeks in candidates, so a frank query on the topic only makes sense. Kellogg wants to know how your values influence your decisions and actions, and in particular, which ones tend to guide you most often or intensely. Simply stating that you embrace certain values is easy, so the admissions committee is understandably asking for illustrations of this phenomenon to better gauge this for itself. Having an idea of how you tend to incorporate your core beliefs into your life will help the school better envision how you might fit into its classrooms and the business world after you graduate. Perhaps at the most basic level, Kellogg wants to know that you understand how values come into play in âlife and work.â This final phrase seems to open the door to stories from your personal life or from your career, with no particular emphasis on either, so consider all your options to identify the most fitting and revealing one. Although in theory, describing a situation from your personal or community activities would provide a nice balance if you chose a professional story for the schoolâs first essay (and vice versa), what is more critical is sharing the experiences that best convey the concepts you wish to highlight. Given the 450-word maximum for this essay, you should skip or at least minimize any preamble and dive into your response, clearly identifying your selected core values and describing specific situations that illustrate them in action. Your ultimate goal is to clearly illustrate for the admissions committee how you have been (and are) guided by your fundament al beliefs. Believe us when we say that Kellogg does not have a set list of values that it expects applicants to demonstrate and that by not choosing the ârightâ ones, you will not be accepted to the school. As always, focus on simply being authentic and sincere and letting your true character show through. That said, we would encourage you to learn what you can about the values Kellogg students tend to display or that would likely be compatible with the Kellogg community. Contact students and alumni to get a sense of what these might be, and if you identify one or two that match some of your own, those might prove strong fodder for your essay. To clarify, we are not saying that you should claim values that are not naturally yours in a misguided attempt to impress the admissions committee, but simply consider highlighting ones that appear to be mutual. Certain applicants will respond to additional questions: 1Y applicants: Please discuss your post-MBA career goal, the current experience you will leverage to support the transition, and the Kellogg 1Y opportunities that will help you reach this goal. (250 words) JD-MBA applicants: Please discuss your post-JD-MBA career goals and why the JD-MBA Program is the right program to help you reach those goals. (250 words) MMM applicants: The five core values of the MMM Program are curiosity, creativity, empathy, open-mindedness and a learning mindset. Describe a situation in which you demonstrated one of these values. Why is this value an important part of the MMM experience for you? (250 words) Kellogg has added some notable depth and specificity to these essay prompts this year, providing a separate one for each special program. If you are applying to one of these options, you should be ready to demonstrate a great deal of intentionality. After all, you are committing to a specialized path that may require additional time and cost. With a limit of just 250 words, you have no choice but to cut to the chase. Applicants to the 1Y and JD/MBA programs must outline how the degree is necessary to achieve their particular desired outcomes and then tie those goals specifically to the Kellogg program they are targeting and its associated resources. This essay is essentially another opportunity to explain your distinct need to attend Kellogg, only here, you can focus on showcasing the non-MBA portion of your intended degree. In many ways, these prompts are asking for a typical (if brief) MBA personal statement, so we encourage you to download your free copy of the mbaMission Personal Statement Guide. This complimentary guide offers detailed advice on approaching and framing these topics, along with multiple illustrative examples. Be sure to claim your copy today. MMM applicants are, curiously, asked to discuss values yet again, only this time, the school presents the specific ones it wants candidates to choose from. Obviously, if you are applying to this program, you will need to plan out your response to this essay in conjunction with Essay 2 to ensure you do not repeat any choices or illustrative stories. Re-applicants: Since your previous application, what steps have you taken to strengthen your candidacy? (250 word limit) Whether you have improved your academic record, received a promotion, begun a new and exciting project, increased your community involvement, or taken on some sort of personal challenge, the key to success with this essay is conveying a very deliberate path of achievement. Kellogg wants to know that you have been actively striving to improve yourself and your profile, and that you have seized opportunities during the previous year to do so, because a Kellogg MBA is vital to you. The responses to this essay question will vary greatly from one candidate to the next, because each personâs needs and experiences differ. We are more than happy to provide one-on-one assistance with this highly personal essay to ensure that your efforts over the past year are presented in the best light possible. All applicants have the opportunity to provide explanations or clarification in Additional Information. Use this section if you think the person reviewing your application might have a few questions about one or more of your responses. This could include: Unexplained gaps in work experience Academic, GMAT or GRE performance Extenuating circumstances that we should be aware of when reviewing your application Kellogg may have rephrased and reformatted this prompt this year, but our advice for approaching it remains the same. However tempted you might be, this is not the place to paste in a strong essay you wrote for another school or to offer a few anecdotes that you were unable to incorporate into any of your other essays. Instead, this is your opportunity, if needed, to address any questions an admissions officer might have about your candidacy. We encourage you to download our free mbaMission Optional Essays Guide, in which we offer detailed advice on when and how to take advantage of the optional essay, along with multiple sample essays, to help you mitigate any problem areas in your profile. Required Video Essay: The video essay provides you with an additional opportunity to demonstrate what you will bring to our vibrant Kellogg community â" in an interactive way. You will respond to several short video essay questions. The questions are designed to bring to life the person we have learned about on paper. After submitting your application and payment, you will be able to access the video essay through your application status page. The first question will ask you to introduce yourself to the admissions committee. Then, youll have an opportunity to describe your plans for the future and how Kellogg will help you on that journey. The remaining questions will be randomly generated and similar to interview questions. There are practice questions that you may complete as many times as you like to get comfortable with the format and technology. The practice questions and experience will simulate the actual video essay experience, so this is meant to be a useful tool to help you feel prepared. We encourage you to practice so you are comfortable with the format once it is time to complete the official questions. You will not have an opportunity to re-do the answer to the official video essay questions. You will have 20 seconds to think about the question and up to one minute to give your response. We estimate the video essays will take 20-25 minutes to complete â" which includes time for set-up and answering all the practice questions. You will need an internet connected computer with a webcam, microphone and an updated version of Adobe Flash in order to complete the video essay. In a QA with several admissions representatives at our 2019 mbaMission annual conference, Kelloggâs Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid Kate Smith explained that the schoolâs video component sprang from the admissions committeeâs desire to actually see and hear the applicants they were evaluating. Given that Kelloggâs interviews are conducted by alumni, the video is the committeeâs only âliveâ interaction with candidates. Keep this in mind as you tackle this segment of the application, and make being authentic and natural your primary goal. Kellogg is not looking for the next viral TED Talk presenter or late-night TV host. They just want to get to know you as a unique individual who may one day join its community. So, start by taking a deep breath. We understand that these video essays can make you feel like you are being put on the spot, but Kellogg is really not trying to scare you. The admissions committee simply wants a more dynamic representation of your personality than a written essay can provide. You cannot answer any of the schoolâs video questions incorrectly, so do not concern yourself with trying to give the ârightâ answer. Just respond to each query honestly, as smoothly as you can (despite any nervousness you may be feeling), and be yourself. Thankfully, Kellogg provides some hints as to the nature of some of the questions you will encounter in the applicationâs video segment, so you do not have to go in totally blind. The âintroductionâ question will be about a topic you know very wellâ"you! You can think of this question as an âicebreaker,â like you might encounter when meeting someone for the first time at a party or other event. Similar questions to what you might ask each other in the process of getting acquainted are what you can very likely expect from Kellogg. Examples we can imagine are âWhat is your favorite book and why?,â âIf you unexpectedly had 24 work-free hours, how would you spend them?,â and âIf you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?â Although we are going to assume that you already know yourself pretty well, these types of queries sometimes require a moment or two of thought before a clear answer can be offered. So take some time to imagine potential questions (you can even Google âicebreaker questionsâ to find lists of examples) and practice delving into your personality in this way. Who knows, you might even learn something ne w about yourself in the process! You will also need to briefly discuss your anticipated professional path and why Kellogg is the right program for you, so you must truly understand why you are choosing it for your MBA. By that, we do not mean that you should create and memorize a laundry list of reasons. Instead, you must have a comprehensive knowledge of the schoolâs resources and be able to clearly and concisely express which ones are of particular importance and significance to youâ"and why. Then, when recording your video, you will need to convey this information in a sincere and compelling way. That will not happen if you are listing facts you have simply committed to memory! (For a thorough exploration of Kelloggâs academic program, unique offerings, social life, and other key characteristics, be sure to download a free copy of the mbaMission Insiderâs Guide to the Kellogg School of Management.) You cannot expect for sure that you will be asked to describe a challenge, but do not dismiss this possibility altogether. Kellogg says that some of the questions posed will be âsimilar to interview questions,â and queries about past challenges are most definitely common in MBA interviews! You may wish to download a free copy of the mbaMission Interview Guide, which, in addition to advice on preparing for and mastering the interview process, includes several pages of common interview questions that could be helpful in approaching your Kellogg video essays. One minute is not very long, so run through several practice sessionsâ"perhaps in front of a mirrorâ"to get a sense of how quickly those 60 seconds will pass when you are in front of the camera. Although you can prepare as much as you want, you get only one chance at the recording. If you stumble while answering or ultimately are unhappy with your answer, unfortunately, you cannot do anything about it. You will not be able to rerecord your responses or try again another time. This may make you nervous, but we encourage you to view the situation a little differently. Kellogg wants to get to know the authentic you through these video essays. If you fumble for words or lose your train of thought, just laugh or shrug and continue with your response. Accepting a mistake with a sense of humor and grace will give the admissions committee a more positive and natural impression of your personality than rigid scripting and overpreparation ever could. The Next Stepâ"Mastering Your Kellogg Interview: Many MBA candidates find admissions interviews stressful and intimidating, but mastering this important element of the application process is definitely possibleâ"the key is informed preparation. Functional literacy affects selection into the labor market. In developing countries, jobs are rationed (that is, demand-side determined). We therefore interpret this result to indicate that functional literacy is a prerequisite for entering the labor market. This interpretation may partly explain the lack of returns to education. 2 The policy implications of these results are that greater efforts should be devoted to developing functional literacy skills and basic education. Policymakers should aim to increase both the supply and the quality of basic education and literacy programs. Veteran Essay Example
During the study, pupils and students are faced with tasks that require them to write an essay on required themes. Veteran Essay Example considers that a notion veteran for the most time is associated with wars and advanced age, which is true but only partially. Veteran Essay Example provides an information about who are veterans and why do we have to honor them. To begin with, it is a matter of importance to understand who is a veteran. The first association with veteran is a war, therefore it means that a veteran is a person who took part in combats and was injured. This association is true, but at the same time, it is not a complete explanation of definition veteran. According to the federal law of the United States, a veteran is every person who served for any period in any military service branch. On the basis of this definition, a veteran could be a war veteran and a combat veteran. A war veteran could be a person, who is ordered to directly participate against an enemy on his or her lands, or who is ordered to be supporting force against an enemy. A combat veteran depends on when and where did he or she served. Unfortunately, not all people, who took part in military service consider themselves as veterans due to the fact that they did not participate in war or combat and did not get an injury during service. At the same time, not ever y acknowledged veteran has a medal due to which civilians recognize veterans as veterans themselves. Some people might think about why they have to honor veterans, even if they have never seen a war. The answer on this thoughts lies upon persons ethical view, and every person must decide for oneself. Nevertheless, apart from this, we have to honor veterans due to the fact that they protected in past or are protecting right now our daily quiet life. Due to their sacrifices and the military service, we have never seen a war, that could take away our relatives and closest friends, or have never been directly affected. We are able to live without fear for our lives and can achieve our life goals. Men and women who just serve in the army, in every moment could be called to active military service in case if a war would be launched. Besides, it is important to remember about veterans and their sacrifices not only during the designated days such as Veterans Day. In case if thoughts about honoring veterans would occur to you, remember that peace has a high price even if those, who paid it, do not see a war. The could be injured at any time and then live all their lives with PTSD and be afraid of any loud sound. It is important to notice the importance of veterans before any war forces us to do it. Any veterans despite their status are worth to be honored. References Dolasia, M. (2013, November 10). Why We Celebrate Veterans Day. Video Games And Its Effects On Society - 1632 Words
Technology is a large part of modern society, especially in industrial society. Depending on who you ask, people are either in favour of the advancement in technology or some are against its progression arguing that people have become too reliant. Cellphones are one of the main forms of technology that people talk about most, questioning whether they are a good thing or bad. Many people are also concerned with the advancement in video games, worrying that video games are the cause of crime and violence. What hasnââ¬â¢t been talked about much is the progression in cloning and the growing of human organs in pigs, whether this technology could be considered positive or negative is debatable but there are also ethical concerns to consider. Finallyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Cells phones have become a part of everyday life, no one leaves home without theirs. The progression with the technology has some people questioning whether cell phones are good and useful or if they have become a dangerous progress trap. The main concern with cell phones is the ability to multitask while using one. Driving while using a cell phone is now illegal and if anyone is caught they get a ticket. Research has been done about the ability to multitask and it has been found that when crossing a busy street the person talking on the phone had a slower reaction time than someone who wasnââ¬â¢t using their phone at all. Even the person who just had their headphones in listening to music while crossing the street had a faster reaction time than the one talking on their phone, but they were still slower than the person who wasnââ¬â¢t using their phone. Cell phones also help people stay in direct contact with friends, family and even people from around the world through texting, video chat like Facetime and Skype, and social apps. These aspects of socialization are not directly negative but people are arguing that it is causing youth to become less social with the people around them. An example of this argument would be when people see a group of youth and see that even though they may be out with each other they are still on their phones texting someone else, browsing Facebook or Twitter and not talking to the friends around them. While this argument is valid, people might
